At Sparx Maths, we are committed to making our software accessible and inclusive for all users.

We have implemented specific features and tools to support different accessibility needs and continue to work on improvements based on user feedback.

Built-in accessibility features

Image zoom

  • All images in Sparx Maths can be enlarged by clicking on them

  • Use zoom controls in the top left corner to adjust magnification

Keyboard navigation

  • Navigate through pages using the Tab key

  • Use Shift-Tab to move back to the previous link

  • Select actions using Space or Enter key

Video captions

  • English captions available for all videos

  • Toggle captions on/off using the three dots menu in video player

  • Captions enabled by default

Colour and contrast settings

  • Students can select from different colour overlays to improve reading comfort

  • Adjust settings via the Settings page

  • Colour choices optimised for users with colour vision deficiencies

Browser features and extensions

Recommended browser tools

  • Built-in zoom functions (usually available via View menu or Ctrl/Cmd & +/-)

  • High contrast mode extensions

  • OpenDyslexic font extensions for improved readability

Device accessibility

  • Compatible with built-in device accessibility features

  • Works with standard screen magnification tools

  • Supports browser text resizing

Frequently asked questions

Can I print homework for a student instead of having them complete it online?


Due to the personalised nature of Sparx Maths, which adapts to student responses in real-time, homework must be completed online. However, we offer various accessibility features to support students using the online platform.

Does Sparx Maths work with screen readers?


Most screen readers can navigate the platform, though some mathematical symbols may not render perfectly. If you need screen reader access enabled for specific students, contact us using the 'Help & Support' option in your Sparx Maths site.

Can the Timestable timer be turned off for students with special educational needs?


Yes, we can disable timer for individual students with special educational needs. Contact us using the 'Help & Support' option in your Sparx Maths site to request this change. It only affect

Some of my students struggle with bookwork checks. Can they be turned off?


In exceptional circumstances (for example, SEND students for whom bookwork checks prevent the completion of homework), we can turn off bookwork checks for individual students. If you'd like to discuss this options with us, please get in touch via your Sparx site.

Do Sparx's accessibility settings transfer across devices?


Yes they do.
