Every topic in Sparx Maths has a unique code and appears at multiple levels of difficulty. Understanding how topics are coded and organised helps you find the right content for your students.

Where to find the Sparx Maths topic codes

You'll find a complete list of topic codes for every curriculum that Sparx Maths supports, in this spreadsheet.

Understanding topic codes

Each code consists of a letter prefix followed by three digits. The letter indicates the curriculum that the topic belongs to, and the three digits uniquely identify the topic:

  • M: Key Stage 3

  • U: GCSE

  • Q: Fundamentals

  • X: Edexcel International GCSE A

  • B: Edexcel International GCSE B

  • D: OxfordAQA International GCSE

  • E: Cambridge IGCSE (0580/0980)

  • P: AQA Level 2 Further Maths

Using topic codes

  • Teachers can use these codes to search for topics when editing homework in the Planner or creating Schemes of Learning.

  • Students can use these codes to search for topics in Independent Learning, for example, for targeted revision.

When choosing topics for homework or schemes of learning, you may notice that some topics have the same or similar names. This occurs because:

  • We cover multiple curricula and levels

  • Similar concepts may appear across different qualifications
