What are QLAs?

A QLA spreadsheet allows you to:

  • Record individual question scores from an assessment

  • Generate detailed analysis of student and class performance

  • Create personalised revision reports for each student

  • Link exam questions to specific Sparx Maths topics for targeted practice

Looking for information about in-product QLAs?

Information about the Sparx Maths Curriculum in-product QLA functionality can be found in our The Sparx Maths Curriculum article.

Template QLA

Are you looking for a different QLA from the ones above?
Try using our Sparx Maths template to create your own.

Using Sparx Maths QLAs

The QLA spreadsheet contains three key sections. Start by filling out the Marksheet tab, and this will automatically populate the other two tabs.

Marksheet tab

  • Fill in the teacher name and class name, and list the students in your class in the left column

  • Record each student's mark on each question

Student Report tab

  • This page generates an individual report for each student, which can be printed (one per page)

  • Students can use this page to identify areas for improvement, and are directed to specific Sparx topic codes for further practice in Independent Learning. See Independent Learning for more information.

Teacher Report tab

  • This page provides a whole-class performance overview

  • You can see average marks per question to identify topics needing whole-class review

Frequently asked questions

How do I handle unattempted questions?

You can either:

  • Leave blank spaces (unattempted questions won't affect class averages)

  • Enter zeros (to include these in average calculations)

What if I need a QLA for a different exam paper?

If the exam paper you are looking for is not listed above, you could use our template above to create your own custom QLA. You can also request new qualifications to be added to this page through our Feedback Board in your Sparx site.
